Welcome to my World
of
Scanner Magic
A scanner is basically a camera too.
There's more to a scanner than just scanning documents and photographs,
it can be used as a camera to record any number of objects. Here's
one example....

Out walking one day, I found this decaying leaf looking like a skeleton.
The best and easiest way to record this was by using a flatbed scanner.
Any number of things could be scanned and this was once a subject of
discussion on a photo forum one day.
The subject of
Kirlian Photography came up, a subject I have been interested in for
years. Kirlian Photography is where images are formed on
photographic paper (or film) by passing a high voltage over the
photographic material creating an aura-like image. It was
suggested we could attempt to achieve a similar effect using a scanner.
I decided to have a go, placing a small bottle on the scanner, some
grains of sugar and a cheese knife.

It was a fun to do and produced an effective result.
