Welcome to my World
of
Pixresizer
There are so many ways to resize images
because there are so many different types software on the market.
For this tutorial, I am going to concentrate on just one software -
Pixresizer, which is available as a free download from
http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm and is only 3.3Mb in size.
Once you have downloaded and installed Pixresizer, you are ready to
start.
For simplicity, I have created a folder on my desktop containing the
photos straight from my camera and renamed it Photos For Forum.

To create a folder on your desktop, right click on a clear space
anywhere on your desktop and select New > Folder and type in the desired
name for your folder. Now you can drag your photos from your camera into
this folder. If you already have a folder containing your photos from
your camera, you don't need to worry about this step.
Double click the folder to open it and you will see your images.

Your view may look different to above depending on your view settings.
Don't worry about this. Now we need to create a new folder within this
folder and call it "Resized". Right click in a blank space in this
folder we have opened and select New > Folder and rename it "Resized"

That's the preparation done!
Now start Pixresizer. Assuming you had more than one photo file in your
folder like I have, you need to click "Work with multiple files"

Now you need to click Source

And select the folder where you placed the photos from your camera and
click OK. In my example it was "Photos For Forum" on the Desktop.

Now click Destination

And select the folder called "Resized" we created within the original
folder and click OK. Click the + next to the "Photos For Forum" to see
the folders within that folder.

Basically, there's no other settings you need to change. You can accept
the defaults for the remaining options. The default is that you images
will be resized to 600 pixels longest side. You can however change this
if you wish by moving the slider in section 2 - Select new size.

Making sure the defaults are as shown below, all you need to do now is
click "Save Pictures"

You will get a box pop up saying "All done!" Click OK and click Exit.
That's it!

Now, if you look in your folder called "Resized", you'll see your images
are all there with the same file name as the originals but have been
resized for you and ready to upload to the Gallery. Your originals are
untouched.
Now you can follow the tutorial on Uploading Pictures to the Photo
Gallery, making sure you upload the images from the "Resized" folder and
not the originals!
