28th Trip
New House Farm, Aust, Bristol CC CL 22nd –
24th May 2009
New House Farm is a lovely
little 5-Van site just off Junction 1 of the M48 at Aust in Bristol which
was an ideal location for our trip to our Nephew's wedding on the Saturday
less than 10 minutes away in Chepstow, Wales near Junction 2 of the M48 over
the Toll bridge. Despite being so close to the motorway, the site was
very quiet which surprised us.
A basic site with no toilets/shower, it is just a
sectioned off corner of the farmers 120 acre land with a water point, elsan
point and refuse point. There are 10 available EHU points spanning
across the field, part of which was hardstanding. The field was fairly level
with well kept grass and nice views. The entrance to the site is via a
gate which is kept padlocked at all times. You are given a key to the
padlock which you keep throughout your stay so you can come and go as you
please. Prior to arrival, the owner telephoned us to stop by the gate
to his house for the key and not to drive into his gate. Doing so
would mean you'd have to back out again as there's nowhere to turn around.
The owner is a very pleasant chap who checked if we were OK on the Sunday
and asked if there was anything we needed.
We don't normally do Bank Holidays because of the traffic
but surprisingly, the traffic was fine. And the weather was HOT! A
very sunny weekend with barely a cloud in sight. And at just £8 per
night with EHU, great value! Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone
or use again ourselves. It's an ideal rest point for anyone travelling
via the M5.
