Welcome to my World
of
NestCam
I have had a bird box with a camera built
in for a couple of years and I have finally got around to mounting it on
the side of my house, December 2010. I did this because I noticed
a Tit looking for a home (Tuesday 7th December 2010), even venturing
into a gas boiler flue two houses down. I believe the reason for
this may be because a house across the road from us has recently had
some bathroom work done, installing a new outlet drain pipe where
previously existed just a hole in the brickwork which the Tits have used
as their home for the past two years. The camera, complete with
Infrared lighting, is wired up to my laptop with a Movement
Capture Program running 24/7. Any movement inside the nest will send the
latest images to this page and a copy emailed to me. Fingers
crossed, we can hope to see some occupants by the Spring of 2011, if not
before. Should this happen, I'll change this page to include more
images, a more regular update and live videos of the activity within.
The image you see below is the bottom of the nest box, a polystyrene
sheet with a hole in it (to the left) and a manufacturer stamp (to the
right). For now, the images are updated every 120 minutes (2
hours) and you will need to either hit your browser refresh or revisit
this page from time to time to see if there's been any activity. In
time, if we're lucky, I will increase the update frequency and add an
auto-refresh to this page including live videos, so check back
frequently!
If you wish to be notified of any activity so you can start watching
when events happen, please let me know via my
Contacts page.
UPDATE December 2011 - Sadly, nothing happened.
No activity. Not even a sniff.
However, the NestBox is still in place but no longer live. I'll leave it
in place and hope the Spring of 2012 brings more success. If this
happens then I'll update this page and make it live once more.
