29th Trip Lower Heathcote Farm, Heathcote, Warwick. CC CL
16th – 19th June 2009
Heathcote Lakes Trout
Fishery, to give its proper name, is a Caravan Club 5 Van Certificated
Location at Lower Heathcote Farm near Warwick. We wanted to book 4
nights to include the Friday night but we were told they were fully
booked for the weekend so we decided to stay the 3 nights, leaving on
the Friday. A check on their website -
www.heathcotelakes.co.uk -
revealed why. A Charity Cricket Match and Entertainment Evening
was being hosted in the main field on the Saturday.
The CL is actually about half way up the driveway on the
right, a 3 and a half acre lawned area marked out with 7 pitches with EHU.
Yes, seven. At the top of the drive is a Farm Shop selling free range
eggs, pickles, jams, chutneys, ice creams and more. Next to this is a
gate leading into their trout fishing lake and a further 14 marked pitches
with EHU. This area is available to anyone, not just CC members.
Despite having booked for the CL at £7.50 per night, we asked for a pitch by
the lake which was £10 a night. So there's a total of 21 pitches
available at Heathcote Lakes.
The lakeside pitches are fairly level with some slightly
sloping in the CL area. Both have refuse/recycling points, water and elsan
but no toilet/shower facilities. The owner said he's hoping to convert
one of the buildings to a toilet/shower block at a later date. For
£7.50 a night, the CL is excellent but for an extra £2.50 a night, the
lakeside views are worth the extra.
It was a hot, sunny day on the day of arrival (Tuesday)
with occasional showers on the Wednesday and sunny intervals on the
Thursday. All in all, a very pleasant stay at a very nice site, one we
wouldn't hesitate to return to or recommend to others.
Below is a panoramic view of the CL
site which was empty at the time.
