38th Trip
Fir Tree Farm Caravan Site, Warmington,
Private, 28th –
31st December 2009
Our final venture away in
the caravan. Prior to this trip, we had been discussing various
alternative ideas and comparing them to the cost of caravanning amongst
other things. This trip was to be a final test of our decision.
It was also our usual trip away for our Anniversary and New Year break.
Although cold (to be expected) it looked a nice site but
it wasn't £10 per night as shown on the
website but £15 per night. (Rising prices is one of the many
factors in our decision to give up.) The drive down to the lake was
VERY steep and muddy but needless to say, we didn't venture down the hill
but stayed at the top. I'm sure it's a lovely place in the Summer but
on reflection, we decided it wouldn't be for us during peak season. We
noticed how close some of the pitches were and thought "No thanks, not for
us!"
It does have some lovely views as can be seen from the
photos on the above linked website and they also have a
Falconry.
It snowed heavily and settled on the second night which was lovely (we had
always hoped to be away in the caravan with snow!) but sadly, it was all
melted by the morning.
We intended to stay 5 nights, returning on the 2nd
January but decided after 2 nights we'd had enough already. However,
we stayed a 3rd night before returning home, New Year's Eve.
And that's the end!
Why we gave up
caravanning
